Navachethana: Magic show to popularise govt. programmes

MADIKERI, Mar 14: The Navachethana programme, a novel venture of the state government to educate the masses about the development programmes, schemes and projects and achievements in the nine various sectors through Magic Shows, was held at the Town Hall here on Friday.

Prahlad Acharya and team of Yaksha Loka, Udupi explained about housing, agriculture, irrigation, water supply and sanitation, health, roads, education, computerisation of land records and women's empowerment through magic tricks. Besides, the magician also provided information regarding AIDS, alcoholism and other social issues.

The programme was inaugurated by the ZP president, Papu Sannaiah at 5.45 pm on Friday.

M V Jayaram, advisor of the Chief Minister, speaking during the function, informed that the state government has launched and implemented several development programmes which require people's participation. Hence, in order to spread awareness about the government programmes, the popular media of magic show has been adopted to reach the masses, he said.

The team of magicians are entrusted with the task of visiting rural areas and spread awareness.

P K Ponnappa, president of ZP education and health standing committee and M K Baladeva Krishna, CEO of ZP, spoke on the occasion.

On the dais were, Kaveramma Somanna, president of TMC, the Deputy Commissioner, B M Shivaprakash, Kamavva Bopaiah, vice president of ZP, ZP members Moiddeen Kunji, V K Devalingaiah and others.

The students of Morarji School, Basavanahalli rendered invocation. Siddappa, planning officer, rendered the welcome address. BEO Bomme Gowda compered the programme and Gokul Nath Naik proposed the vote of thanks.

Following the stage programme, the magic show as inaugurated by H B Jayamma and Kamavva by performing a magic trick.
